Maria took on her Skydive to celebrate her daughter Laura's 27th birthday.

Here Maria tells us about her Skydive experience...

How and when did you become aware of Sands?

When I lost my daughter, Laura in 1988. Laura was stillborn.

What made you decide to fundraise for Sands?

I wanted to do something in memory of Laura and to celebrate her 27th birthday in a crazy way

Why did you choose a Skydive?

Always wanted to do a Skydive and it seemed like the ideal time and a crazy thing to do to raise money and awareness for Sands.

Did you enjoy the Skydive?

I absolutely loved it, it was one of the most amazing things I have ever done

What was your favourite part of the skydive?

The actual ‘falling’ from the plane, my tummy was doing somersaults, I did scream but it was such an amazing feeling, it felt like you was ‘flying’ and all you could see was the clouds, breath-taking really

How did you find the fundraising?

Fundraising went fantastically, felt really humbled by the kindness and generosity of so many, raised an amazing £1,946.36 for Sands

Would you do it again?

Yes definitely!

If you could say one thing to someone who was thinking of doing a Skydive for Sands, what would you say?

Go for it, it was so exciting and so amazing, the most wonderful feeling of ‘flying’ it was just incredible, I will never forget it.
