Staff at Payzone have generously chosen to support Sands in a new charity of the year partnership.

Payzone enables retailers to offer a wide range of services to their customers, from making gas, electric and water bill payments, topping-up their phones, bus and railcards to collecting parcels.

The company decided to support us as staff have sadly experienced baby loss.

Beverley Madeley, Human Resources Business Partner and Head of the Social Squad at Payzone, explains: “Sands has supported several colleagues at Payzone and therefore when the opportunity arose to nominate a deserving charity, Payzone could not think of a more deserving charity that they wanted to support in 2020.

“Miscarriage and baby loss is still a subject which is not spoken about widely, which can lead to feelings of isolation for grieving parents, long after their loss. We must empower and encourage people to speak out and receive the support they need.

“Payzone hopes that by working with and supporting Sands this will help to raise awareness by breaking the stigma of talking about baby loss.”

To kick-start their activities, colleagues Sherri, Izzy, Tom and Sarah have been lacing up their trainers in preparation for the Cheshire 10k run that takes place on at Arley Hall on 21st March.

Other colleagues have signed up to take part in Tough Mudder, which is an endurance event where participants attempt a 10 to 12-mile-long obstacle course.

The company are also taking part in the Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool bike ride on 5th October and have organised a charity ball that will take place on 9th October. Many other smaller office based events are also in the pipeline.

Daniel Brett-Schneider, Director of Income & Engagement at Sands (stillbirth and neonatal death charity), said: “We are excited to have been chosen by Payzone as their new charity partner for the forthcoming year.

"We look forward to working with and supporting the amazing staff at Payzone with their endeavours to raise funds and awareness of baby loss.

“The vital funds Payzone will be raising will help us to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, improve bereavement care and fund research to save babies’ lives.”

In addition to Payzone’s individual event fundraising, they have set up a Just Giving page for anyone who would like to make a donation.
