Sands 40th anniversary
Networks & Volunteering Team, Sands | 6 November 2018

My son was stillborn in 2014 and since entering Parliament in May 2015, I’ve campaigned for better bereavement care across our NHS and worked with the Government to secure ambitious commitments to reduce stillbirth and neo-natal death. My passion is to ensure that as few people as possible experience baby loss and for those that do, that they have world class bereavement care. I’ve spoken many times in Parliament on baby loss issues, helped establish and co-chair the Baby Loss All Party Parliamentary Group, helped secure the funding for the National Bereavement Care Pathway, have been involved in the planning for three Baby Loss Awareness Weeks and have written or spoken about baby loss numerous times in the national media.

Clea Harmer, Sands Chief Executive, said, “As Co-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Baby Loss, Will has championed the National Bereavement Care Pathway, ensuring that the vision of the pathway had the right support and resources to become a reality. However, without his additional support, time, energy and compassion, which has been volunteered in abundance, none of this would have been possible.”

Will has been nominated as part of 40 volunteers for #Sands40. Join them at Sands 40th Anniversary Conference on 17th November 2018 in Glasgow.

Sands is marking its 40th anniversary this year and we would like to say thank you for the incredible support and contribution that our dedicated volunteers make across the UK to support bereaved parents and anyone affected by the death of a baby.

We will be hosting an awards ceremony during the Sands 40th Anniversary Conference to celebrate the wide range of volunteering involvement in Sands and acknowledge 40 volunteers for their dedication and commitment.
