Leave your limits behind this October and join Sands’ Great Cycle Challenge. Ride 100km in 7 days during the month of October.

Choose you start date and whether you cycle with family and friends or alone, make this October a memorable one.

Sands want to ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times.  We want to campaign for change and support research so that fewer babies die and so that fewer families experience the pain of losing a baby.

Cycle this October for Sands and with each mile pedaled and every pound raised, together we’ll help save lives.

When you sign up you'll receive a Sands FREE t-shirt. If you raise £150 by 31 October we'll also send you a Sands cycling jersey. Just let us know when you've hit £150 and we'll send it out to you. Email fundraising@sands.org.uk

FAQs:

You may have questions about the challenge. If you need to speak to a member of our team, you can email fundraising@sands.org.uk.

How do I sign up?

Sign up to the challenge by registering for your fundraising pack here.

How do I set up a fundraising page?

Setting up a fundraising page online is easy and can be shared with friends and family. You can set up a Facebook Fundraiser in a matter of seconds at the same time as registering for your t-shirt or create a page on Justgiving

If you set up a Facebook Fundraiser, please do change the end date on this so that your page doesn't close before your challenge begins.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to your fundraising page
  2. Click “Edit” under the main image and headline
  3. Scroll down to the box that says “Set the End Date”
  4. Select the date – choose 5 days after your ride to allow people to donate when congratulating you
  5. Then click Save in the top right.

Can I raise funds offline?

Absolutely. You can collect sponsorship in any way you like. You can download the sponsorship form here.

Is there an entry fee?

There is no entry fee for this challenge. We do however ask you to fundraise as part of your challenge - partly to cover the cost of your pack. If you raise £150 or more by 31 October you'll receive a Sands cycling jersey in the post. Just use your Facebook Fundraiser as a way of raising funds. You can set one up in a few seconds at the same time as registering for your Sands t-shirt. And then it’s really easy to share the page with your friends. Please do remember to change the end date on your Facebook page so that this doesn't close before your ride.

How do I track my progress?

Strava is a great app for keeping track of your challenge. Once you’re home, use the tracker in your pack to record how far you did.

You can join our Strava team.

Can I start my challenge early or later?

Of course! Do feel free to adapt the challenge to suit you.

My family want to do the challenge with me. Can they have t-shirts?

That's brilliant! If they're fundraising too, simply ask them to register above and we will send them fundraising packs and t-shirts.

If they're not fundraising as just taking on the challenge with you, we ask that you purchase t-shirts or jerseys from the Sands shop.

Someone I know accidentally donated to my Facebook Fundraiser. Can you issue them a refund?

Unfortunately we can’t issue refunds - Facebook must do this. People can request a refund themselves from Facebook by following the below steps:

Send them this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/162031714239823

Select — I donated to a fundraiser on Facebook

Select — I want a refund for my donation(s)

Select — I made a donation by accident. Find their donation in the dropdown and request the refund.

How do I pay in my fundraising?

If you’ve fundraised on Facebook or Justgiving, the money is automatically sent to Sands, so there's no need for you to do anything more!

If collected offline fundraising, the easiest way to pay this to Sands if by donating on our website. Then simply send us a photo or scan of your sponsorship form to fundraising@sands.org.uk.

Make sure to say that your money is for your Sands Great Cycle Challenge so that we can make sure it is added to your total.

If you’re not able to donate this way, then drop us an email to fundraising@sands.org.uk and we can discuss other ways of getting the donation to us.
