Taking place 9-15 October every year, Baby Loss Awareness Week aims to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby loss in the UK.

Throughout the week, bereaved parents, and their families and friends, to unite with others across the world to commemorate the lives of babies who died during pregnancy, at or soon after birth and in infancy.

Led by Sands, the Baby Loss Awareness Alliance is a collaboration of more than 90 charities working together to break the taboo and to drive tangible improvements in policy, bereavement care and support for anyone affected by the death of a baby.

This year we are delighted that Natwest Group are proudly supporting #BLAW2020 in partnership with Sands and hosting a series of live panel discussions during the Week.

The difference you've made

Thank you for making Baby Loss Awareness Week so impactful. Take a look at the difference we made in 2019

Together with you, our amazing alliance charities and partners, we were able to raise more awareness than ever before, helping to instigate real change through Government with our Out Of Sight, Out of Mind report. Our incredible ambassadors shared their experiences encouraging our dedicated supporters to speak out and break the silence around baby loss. The Wave of Light was bigger and brighter this year, with even more parents and families taking part in remembrance events, commemorative activity and the #BLAW2019 Mosaic.

Policy Ask - Ask your MP to attend the #BLAW2020 Debate

Nearly 5,000 people took our #BLAW2020 action about partners being excluded from pregnancy, maternity and neonatal services due to COVID-19, despite updated NHS guidance.  Thank you, we are receiving lots of useful information from health trusts and boards across the UK. We now need your help with something else.

Debate in Westminster

The #BLAW2020 parliamentary debate in Westminster will take place on Thursday 5th November. It will focus on the impact of COVID-19 highlighting what needs to put in place to avoid the unintended negative consequences of restrictions to services on those experiencing pregnancy and baby loss during a second wave of the pandemic.
